Rick Landuyt is strategic visionary innovator and leader with 32 years of experience in the boot-strapping of start-ups into successful, profitable companies. Rick has boot-strapped four hi-tech companies from his basement into fully sustainable operations. He has experience in selling his businesses to public companies listed on the NYSE and NASDAQ stock exchanges.
Rick has worked in the fast paced computer hardware & software industry since 1984. Rick’s particular expertise lies in creating markets using technology. His experience resides in the manufacturing of electronics that include software and firmware development. His expertise spans software security, smart card technologies, manufacturing, automation, big data analytics, and radio frequency identification (RFID) technologies.
Rick’s companies have earned the Inc 500/5000 Award several years running for fastest growing private companies in America. His companies have won numerous industry innovation awards, and hold several patents. He sat on the advisory boards of over 200 Chicago-area companies since 1994. He was a member of the Advisory Board at the Coleman Entrepreneurship Center at DePaul University. He has served as a judge at the University of Illinois engineering contests.
He currently sits on 3 boards of private companies, mentors at Northwestern University’s Graduate School of Engineering Management, and is a mentor within Chicago MATTER, an incubator for medical start-ups,
Rick earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (BSEE) from University of Illinois at Champaign, a master’s degree in mechanical engineering (MSME from University of Illinois at Chicago, and mini-MBA Certificate from DePaul University.
